Mr. & Mrs. Tassos Tsoumanis
Meet Nafsika (Connie) and Tassos. This awesome couple were married this past Saturday at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral here in Greenville. This is my 2nd Greek wedding and can I just tell you how much fun they are!?!? These people know how to celebrate! It is so fun seeing all of their traditions and how much family means to them! I just LOVE it! And I love my Greek friends! Connie and her mom and I became fast friends and had a great time with each interaction we had. And especially on her wedding day. In fact, I have a little story to tell………
When I arrived at Connie’s house, she began to get ready and said she needed some Advil. Being the sweet and kind friend/photographer that I am, I told her I would go get it for her. I went into the kitchen and found a bottle of Advil on the counter beside a bottle of water. I grabbed them both and gave her 2 and she took a big swig of water. Then she started screaming with her mouth full! She motioned (and I’m not sure how we figured out what she wanted) that she needed to get rid of her water so I grabbed a bowl. It was then that she started screaming that someone had put moonshine!!! in the water bottle! I was horrified!!! I mean, what kind of photographer tries to get her bride sloshed with “fire water” the day of her wedding!?!!? Well, she and her mom and the whole house (by this time) were dying laughing. I wanted to crawl under the coffee table! I couldn’t begin to apologize enough! But she and her mom were so gracious. After the laughter died down, her mom said that this was exactly what they needed! (Truth be told I didn’t laugh about this until I asked Connie later if I could get her something to drink and she just looked at me and said, “um, I don’t think so!”) So, it all ended well, but wow what an experience!
We arrived at the church and I was able to get some amazing shots of Connie. She made such a beautiful bride and I LOVED watching Tassos’ face as he saw her for the first time. It was so sweet. I also loved how they smiled at each other during the entire ceremony!
Thank you so very much for allowing me into the Greek community. I am thrilled to be around such a great and fun group of people!
And in Greek fashion, I would like to end with this expression, the ONLY Greek I know, mind you! “Opa”! Which is an expression of joy kind of like our “woo hoo”! Enjoy!
Would you just look at these amazing shoes!?!?!
Here are a few of their incredible traditions…………… And I LOVE the sweet look on her Yaya’s face as she sees her for the first time!
Connie looking stunning!
Tassos looking quite handsome himself!
And a few favorites of the happy couple! And the PARTY!!!
